Hello, I’m Angel Murphy, and I am running for re-election to Position 3 of Galveston County Drainage District No. 2. I respectfully ask for your vote to continue serving our community with integrity, transparency, and dedication.
I am a proud Navy veteran and honored to be endorsed by VoteVets. As a 12-year Galveston County resident, I actively advocate for improving quality of life across Texas City, La Marque, Dickinson, and Hitchcock.
As Board Secretary, I bring a strong understanding of Texas Chapter 49 Water Code and focus on ensuring our district operates efficiently, responsibly, and in full compliance with the law. My approach is practical and results-driven, centered on reliable drainage maintenance and accountable governance.
During my term, I have worked to strengthen district policies, introduced responsible public investments, and improve drainage system maintenance. I prioritize consistent ditch upkeep through regular inspection, cleaning, and follow-through to reduce preventable flooding. I believe in proactive maintenance—identifying issues early, keeping waterways clear, and ensuring work is completed before problems escalate.
I support clear priorities, measurable scheduling, and transparent reporting so residents can see what work is being done and where. I want the public to evaluate the district based on visible results and documented progress.
Transparency is essential. I advocate for open government through clear meeting materials, accurate records, and accessible information on budgets, contracts, and spending.
I am also focused on strengthening emergency management by improving flood preparedness, response, and long-term resilience. As a Master Gardener, I value environmental stewardship and sustainable solutions.
On May 2, 2026, I respectfully ask for your vote. Together, we can continue building a stronger, safer drainage district.
